Just because it's fall does not mean that you let your lawn RIP!
Many homeowners assume that you no longer need to care for your lawn once the leaves begin to fall, so not true! Your lawn still requires watering and mowing as needed, throughout the fall. Fall is also the ideal time to aerate the soil so that oxygen, water, and fertilizer can penetrate the grass roots. Leaf removal is also crucial because if leaves are left to decompose on your lawn they can create an impenetrable mat that if left unmoved will kill the grass and breed fungal growth. Fertilization is very important in the fall season as well because the fertilizer delivers essential nutrients for the grass to grow deeper roots and to keep the nutrients on reserve for a booster start to a healthy beautiful lawn in the spring.
Have weeds taken over your lawn since summer passed, that annoying dandelion, ugh! Weeds love to soak up anything their little pesky roots can reach, so applying herbicides in the Fall is always your best defense to prevent a weed infested spring lawn next year. Also fall is a perfect time to fill in bald spots from Fido marking his territory on your lawn.
